ASAP Explore Instructor (all Gender)

Introduction: ASAP Explorers is a specialized ASAP class, running

Monday-Friday in one block (15:30-16:30 )  and on

Wednesdays for 4 blocks- 1230-1330, 1330-1430, 14:30-15:30,15:30-16:30.

These blocks are subject to change based on demand. The successful applicant will need to be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 1500 and on Wednesdays from 1200. 

This happens during all operational school days for children Grades 1-5 and where needs be Early years and Kindergarten. The class is designed to allow for participants to try activities and enjoy a lightly structured recreational curriculum. Unlike other ASAP classes, which feature a single focus for the entire semester, ASAP Explorer operates with weekly or monthly units.  ASAP Explorer is booked by term, with drop in options available if needs be also with activities subject to change. 

The ASAP Explorer Instructor is responsible for the supervision and care of children. Additionally, the ASAP Explorer Instructor is responsible for working with the ASAP Manager (Coordinator) to determine activities for the term as well as the instruction and implementation of the agreed upon activities via units and a lightly based framework of education. 

Their general responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
 

•  Ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of all children taking part in ASAP Explore.
• Supporting and developing a light curriculum of STEAM styled unit-based learning also recreational activities including games, outdoor play, and crafts as determined by the ASAP Manager (Coordinator) and collaborating on these topics.
• Ensuring that children are signed in and out of ASAP Explorers using the proper procedure with attendance and closely monitored.
• Cooperating with additional after school program staff to support the flow of children in the afternoons and being on hand to help other after school programmes if needs be.
• Communication with parents where necessary in the ASAP manager’s absence and also about issues that may occur during the child’s time in class as well as relevant information to the afternoon’s program.
• Ensuring spaces and materials are prepared at the beginning and conclusion of each day
• Having availability to be on hand for school events to promote the programme
• Supporting the ASAP program functions as determined by the ASAP Manager (Coordinator) Cooperating closely with fellow ASAP staff and providing support to other ASAP programmes when required
• Have a limited proficiency in Microsoft technologies such as teams, emails and keeping up with the school’s current affairs. The ability to understand mac or apple technologies and implementing newsletters for the ASAP social media
