ISS is looking to hire a part-time

LS IB PYP Substitute Teacher (All Gender)

Starting in August 2026. This Position is initially for two years. 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to: 

  • Provide high-quality substitute teaching across the Lower School within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of classroom teachers.
  • Facilitate inquiry-based and concept-driven learning experiences that support students in developing curiosity, agency, and engagement with their learning.
  • Implement lesson plans and learning experiences aligned with the PYP framework, supporting students’ development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills such as collaboration, communication, and self-management.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that teaching and learning remain consistent with the philosophy and practices of the PYP. 

Qualifications

Candidates will have at minimum a Bachelor’s degree and recognized teaching qualification and should demonstrate: 

  • Experience teaching in Primary / Elementary settings, ideally within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).  
  • Have experience in documenting, and assessing student learning using Toddle or similar, as a curriculum planning, communication and assessment tool.   
  • A strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centred learning.
  • The ability to quickly establish positive learning environments and build relationships with students.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to adapt to a range of grade levels and classroom contexts.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to supporting the culture of an international school community.
