Lower School PYP Coordinator

Starting in August 2025. This position is initially for two years.
The PYP Coordinator at the International School of Stuttgart (ISS) will lead and manage the implementation of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). This pivotal role ensures alignment with IB philosophy while fostering an enriching and cohesive learning environment. The PYP Coordinator collaborates with leadership, staff, students, and the wider community to support educational growth and advance the school’s long-term goals.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Leadership & Implementation
  • Oversee all aspects of the PYP programme, ensuring excellence and alignment with IB standards.
  • Guide curriculum planning, student progression, and assessment processes.
  • Drive programme innovation to meet diverse learning needs and promote IB values.
  • Liaise with the IBO on compliance, re-accreditation, and evaluations.

Teaching & Learning Support
  • Support Grade 5 students with the PYP Exhibition process.
  • Collaborate with Grade 6 teachers and MYP Coordinators to ensure smooth programme transitions.
  • Align Early Years through Grade 5 approaches to learning (AtL).
  • Provide MAP data training to teachers and parents to enhance student learning outcomes.

Community Engagement
  • Host informative sessions for parents on the PYP curriculum and philosophy.
  • Present at open house events to prospective families.
  • Work with the PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) to address parent queries and foster engagement.
Teacher Development
  • Organize professional development aligned with IB standards.
  • Support teachers with planning and documentation tools, like Toddle.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create meeting schedules and coordinate learning conferences.
Administrative Tasks
  • Maintain and update curriculum documentation.
  • Facilitate communication about academic integrity, assessments, and reporting.
  • Plan newsletters and parent notes with leadership before major events like conferences.

Qualifications and experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting IB programmes, particularly PYP.
  • Strong knowledge of IB philosophy and curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • A passion for fostering a supportive, inclusive, and innovative learning environment.
  • Previous and well-established primary program leadership.
  • A minimum of five years plus teaching internationally, preferably in more than one 
    school.
  • Membership of the International Baccalaureate Educators Network (IBEN).
  • Experience leading or being part of an IB authorization or evaluation team visit.
  • Significant and impactful experience working with Toddle
  • Responsibilities and Engagements with the School Community for the Primary Years
