About Ferien@ISS
Ferien@ISS is a school holiday program at the International School of Stuttgart, Sindelfingen Campus, designed to give children an exciting week of hands-on exploration, creativity and discovery.
Built around the principles of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths, the program encourages children to experiment, design, build, create, investigate and solve problems in an engaging and age-appropriate environment.

We are looking for enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Ferien@ISS STEAM Program Teachers to join our team.
As a Ferien@ISS Teacher, you will be responsible for leading a group of children through a varied week of hands-on STEAM experiences.
The emphasis of Ferien@ISS is on learning through doing. Teachers should create opportunities for children to ask questions, test ideas, make things, experiment, solve problems and discover new skills while having fun.
Teachers will work within the overall Ferien@ISS program structure while adapting activities to the age, interests and abilities of their group.
Above all, teachers are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, positive and enjoyable holiday-program environmentin which every child feels welcome and encouraged to participate.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and lead engaging, age-appropriate STEAM activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths.
- Provide practical, hands-on experiences that encourage children to explore, create, experiment, build and problem-solve.
- Adapt activities to suit the age, abilities and interests of the assigned group.
- Create a positive environment where children feel comfortable trying new things, making mistakes and developing their own ideas.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, teamwork and independent thinking.
- Supervise and support children throughout the entire program day, including activities, transitions, breaks and lunch.
- Ensure the safety, well-being and inclusion of all participating children.
- Maintain appropriate behaviour expectations and positive group management.
- Encourage participation while recognising that children have different interests, abilities and levels of confidence.
- Work collaboratively with the Ferien@ISS Director, other teachers and support staff.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with children, colleagues and parents when required.
- Prepare all necessary equipment and materials before activities.
- Ensure classrooms, activity spaces, equipment and materials are organised and properly stored after use.
- Follow International School of Stuttgart safeguarding, child-protection, health and safety procedures.
- Support the overall Ferien@ISS program and contribute to a positive, flexible and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
Experience teaching or working with children in a school, holiday program, camp, childcare or extracurricular setting.
- Confidence in leading groups of children independently.
- Strong classroom/group management and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, reliable, organised and adaptable.
- Comfortable facilitating practical and creative activities.
- Willingness to engage actively with children rather than simply supervise activities.
- Ability to adapt activities when something does not go according to plan.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to child protection and safeguarding best practices.
- Valid German work permit or eligibility to work in Germany.
- Health insurance coverage.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching certification or relevant educational background.
- Experience in STEAM/STEM education, inquiry-based learning or project-based learning.
- Experience in holiday camps, summer camps or extracurricular programs.
- Experience leading practical activities such as experiments, construction challenges, technology projects, arts and crafts, cooking or creative problem-solving.
- Experience working with international and/or multilingual groups of children.
What We Are Looking For:
You do not need to be an expert scientist, engineer, programmer, artist and mathematician! We are looking for people who are curious, enthusiastic and willing to explore alongside the children.
A successful Ferien@ISS teacher is someone who can take an idea and turn it into an engaging experience — whether that means conducting an experiment, building a bridge, creating something artistic, solving a challenge, exploring technology or discovering how maths appears in everyday life.
