The International School of Stuttgart e.V. is a non-profit Kindergarten through 12th grade, NEASC accredited, IB World School offering an international curriculum to a student body of about 850 from over 40 nations. Among its strengths are its student-centred and holistic approach to learning and its commitment to professional development and emphasis on student pastoral care.

ISS is looking to hire a qualified

Teaching Resident (all genders)

to commence June 2025, 40h/week, 1-year assignment.
Introductory Experience:
Residents may begin their Program working within our ISS Summer Camp. Responsibilities include:
  • Serving as Lead Instructors
  • Working with the Summer Director to develop and implement summer curriculum and program
  • Guiding activities and field trips
The intent is for the Residents to get to know one another and the area whilst working with summer students, many of which will return for our Academic Year.
 
Academic Residency:
Once the academic year begins, Residents will work with the Teacher Residency Coordinator, and will be expected to:
  • Participate in an IB-professional development program
  • Collaborate with an ISS Mentor Teacher
  • Collaborate with their fellow Resident Teachers
  • Co-teach an equivalent of at least three hours a week in a specific school division and participate in at least three hours of planning per week
  • Serve as a Substitute Teacher for no more than 24 hours per work week
  • Support student management outside of class time (e.g., playground and lunch duties)
  • Take on an extracurricular commitment such as Duke of Edinburgh, coaching, theatre, arts etc.
  • Contribute individual areas of expertise (computer skills, sports, outdoor activities, love of books… etc.) to strengthen the learning opportunities in school life.
 
Professional Expectations:
A recently completed certification in early years, primary, or secondary education is an advantage

  •  Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of children and young people.
