WS Summer Camp Deputy Director
For our annual English language immersion summer camp for children between 4 -12 years of age, we are looking to hire:
Summer Camp Deputy Director
for the period 23th June – 27rd August 2025
Job Description:

- Ability to oversee program activities, field trips and assist the Camp Director when needed as well as maintain an overview of materials and resources needed for program.
- Ability to supervise by giving feedback or praise when appropriate to Instructors that are assigned to the age group.
- Plan staff schedule to ensure all staff in the age group gets appropriate breaks, and there are appropriate numbers for all activities.
- Report any positive or negative staff issues to the director.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and children’s’ needs.
- Have a genuine interest in the development of youth
- Understand and agree to teach and model positive behaviour for students and staff members
- Be able to organize and monitor day camp programs to ensure maximum participation from campers and adapt program as needed.
- Supervise, assist in the planning of, and organize field trip activities and associated travel
- Familiarity with health information and protocols in an emergency
- Ensure that camp activities are running smoothly and advise the Camp Director of any Issues that need to be addressed, including staff, student, and parent concerns.
- Make sure all equipment and supplies are ready and set-up for activities in advance and that it is properly cleaned up and stored at the conclusion of the activity or day.
- Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
- Able to problem solve effectively and communicate with staff, students, and parents in a professional and empathetic manner.
- German work permit
- Previous counsellor and/or extra-curricular coordination experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong communication skills in English
- Is a team player with strong leadership capabilities and the ability to delegate responsibility where appropriate
- CPR & First Aid or ability to obtain training
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of children and young people
- Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
- Value and respects the views and needs of children and young people
- Prepared and excited to work in a fast paced and high energy environment!
- Experience working in a diverse, multicultural environment
- Second language, preferably German
- May require working in an outdoor environment.

- Proof of first aid training, no older than 2 years (otherwise there would be a mandatory first aid course on Saturday, June 29th, 2024)

- An “Erweitertes polizeiliches Führungszeugnis” / police check with no records must be provided later in the application process.
