The International School of Stuttgart e.V. is a non-profit Kindergarten through 12th grade, NEASC accredited, IB World School offering an international curriculum to a student body of about 880 from over 40 nations. Among its strengths are its student-centred and holistic approach to learning and its commitment to professional development and emphasis on student pastoral care.
For our annual English language immersion summer camp for children between 4 -12 years of age, we are looking to hire: 
 

Summer Camp Junior Instructors (ALL GENDER)

Campus: Degerloch

Summer Camp 2026: 06th July - 28th August 2026. This Position is until End of August 2026.

  • Week 1:     6 July – 10 July
  • Week 2:   13 July – 17 July
  • Week 3:   20 July – 24 July
  • Week 4:   27 July – 31 July
  • Week 5:    3 August – 7 August
  • Week 6:  10 August – 14 August
  • Week 7:  17 August – 21 August
  • Week 8:  24 August – 28 August

Working hours: 08.00-16.00 every day (Mo-Fr) (1hour break)

 

Responsibilities

The Summer Camp Junior Instructor plays an important supporting role in delivering a fun, safe, and engaging summer camp experience at the International School of Stuttgart. This position is ideal for motivated young people who enjoy working with children, being part of a team, and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic camp environment. Junior Instructors assist the Summer Camp Coordinator and Camp Instructors in the day-to-day running of activities, helping to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where campers can learn, play, and thrive. This is a great opportunity to build confidence, develop teamwork and communication skills, and gain valuable experience working in an international educational setting. Junior Instructors are not responsible for independently supervising groups of children. They always work under the direct guidance and direction of the Summer Camp Coordinator and Camp Instructors, ensuring a safe and well-supported environment for all participants. Their contribution is essential in helping activities run smoothly, supporting campers throughout the day, and bringing energy and enthusiasm to the camp community.

  • Assist Camp Instructors and staff in preparing, setting up, and facilitating daily activities
  • Support (but not independently lead) the supervision of children at all times under adult guidance
  • Help ensure smooth transitions of campers between activities throughout the day
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment
  • Assist in organizing, maintaining, and cleaning equipment and activity spaces before and after use
  • Engage with campers in a friendly, respectful, and encouraging manner
  • Adapt to changing schedules, group dynamics, and camper needs
  • Support efforts to maximize participation, enjoyment, and engagement for all campers
  • Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safeguarding guidelines at all times

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old and eligible to work in Germany (valid work permit if applicable)

  • Interest in working with children and contributing to a camp environment
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to take direction from Camp Coordinator and instructors
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment
  • Basic understanding of responsibility, safety, and appropriate behavior when working with children
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Respect for diversity and inclusion within an international community
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain

Additional Experience (Considered an Asset)

  • Previous experience attending or assisting at camps or youth programs
  • Experience working with children in any setting (e.g., babysitting, tutoring, volunteering)
  • Experience in multicultural or international environments
  • Knowledge of additional languages (German preferred)
  • Lifeguard certification (e.g., Deutsches Rettungsschwimmabzeichen) or strong swimming ability
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
