For our annual English language immersion summer camp for children between 4 -12 years of age, we are looking to hire:  
 

Summer Camp Specialist Instructors

Starting End of June 2025. This Position is until End of August 2025.

Job Description:

Specialist Instructors are responsible for the development of lessons and running of activities in specialized areas such as art, sports, or science, as determined by the needs of the program. They are responsible for ensuring the materials and required equipment is prepared for available for the activities they have planned. Additionally, they support all camp operations and functions including field trips and special activities and work to support the full team.

Job Functions and Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:     
  • Creation of recreational developmentally appropriate curriculum based on specific subject areas for a diverse age and background student population
  • Ability to lead planned activities and manage classroom environment
  • Work with summer camp leadership to develop material and supply lists
  • Support instructors, leadership, and volunteers in the operations of daily camp programming
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and children’s’ needs.
  • Have a genuine interest in the development of youth
  • Understand and agree to teach and model positive behaviour for students and staff members
  • Familiarity with health information and protocols in an emergency
  • Make sure all equipment and supplies are ready and set-up for activities in advance and
    that it is properly cleaned up and stored at the conclusion of the activity or day.
  • Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth.
  • Able to problem solve effectively and communicate with staff, students, and parents in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Schedules may be subject to shifts depending on needs
Required skills and knowledge:  
  • German work permit
  • Previous counsellor and/or extra-curricular coordination experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Is a team player with strong leadership capabilities and the ability to delegate responsibility where appropriate
  • CPR & First Aid or ability to obtain training
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with, and the protection of children and young people
  • Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young
    people
  • Value and respects the views and needs of children and young people
  • Prepared and excited to work in a fast paced and high energy environment!
 Additional experience considered an asset:  
  • Experience working with children and/or in a diverse, multicultural environment   
  • Second language, preferably German 
  • May require working in an outdoor environment.
